Weight and Balance Management ─ Usage
Calculating and viewing live mass rollup
You can calculate and view mass rollup in real time directly in the tree structure without generating a rollup report. Instead of generating a complete rollup report for the entire product, you can perform rollup calculations on specific assemblies and immediately see the results in the tree structure.
Teamcenter calculates rolled-up values based on authored mass data, such as Actual Mass or Estimated Mass, and displays them in columns within the tree structure.
To perform a live rollup for an assembly, select the assembly and choose Rollup > Calculate Rollup. The rollup values are computed and displayed instantly in the context of the selected assembly.
In the live rollup, the following columns are shown. By default, these columns are available in the Mass and Balance column configuration:
- Mass Rollup
- CoM X Rollup
- CoM Y Rollup
- CoM Z Rollup
If you do not use the Mass and Balance configuration when performing a live rollup, and instead you select a column configuration where none of the mass columns are available, then you get a message informing you that no columns eligible for live rollup are available. Then, you can go to the Arrange panel to select the required columns.
The columns eligible for rollup that are available in the tree structure are included in a live rollup. Also, the structure elements that are visible in the tree structure are included in the live rollup. For the live rollup, you can apply structure configurations, such as revision rules and variant rules.
Note
The live rollup includes unconfigured structure elements and substitutes.
You can change the unit of measurement for live rollup values by selecting a different Unit Display Set in your user profile. This option allows you to view mass properties in your preferred units of measure, for example, Kg and lbs.
Example
The following example illustrates how rollup values are calculated in the tree structure compared to the rollup report (example content/image not captured — see source page).
