Create a design structure manually

You can create a design structure manually by adding child items to it.

Procedure Open the folder in which you want to create a new structure.

In the Overview tab, click Add to in the Contents section.

In the Add panel, select the Type as Design, and enter the required information. If you want to add further information for an item or assembly, add a secondary item. The Occurrence Type of the secondary item is Reference Geometry. The secondary components are displayed as a part of the structure. You can hide the secondary components from being displayed into the structure.

Select the Part Required check box if you need a corresponding part and then choose one of the following options:

Click the Auto-Create option to automatically create a new part and align it with the design.

Click the Add Part option to add a new part or search for an existing part and align that part with the design.

Click the Assign Part ID option to assign only the part number corresponding to the design. The part is neither created nor aligned to the design at this point. You can then choose to create a part with the assigned part number and align it to the design.

Click the Defer for later option to create a part and align it with the design later.

Open the design that you added, go to the Content tab, and click Add

Child.

In the Add Child panel, enter the required details, and click Add.

Add more children to build the structure. To add children that are at the same level, click Add

Sibling. You can drag a design from one place to another to reorder the structure. To remove a design, right-click it and choose Remove . If you are not able to remove an aligned occurrence, contact your administrator.

What to do nextAfter the design is created, you might want to update its assembly indicator considering your business requirement.
