Exporting objects to Teamcenter email

Using the internal email facility, you can send object data from Systems Engineering to other Teamcenter users. You can also send the data to SMTP addresses for recipients who are not Teamcenter users.

Extracted through the export process, the data consists of object property values specified in a Microsoft Office export template that you select. You can export the data to Word or Excel in the static mode or the live mode.

  • In static mode, the output document itself is attached to the email message. Recipients can save the attachment locally and open it from the message. The content is a fixed record of the data as of a given time; changes cannot be applied to the underlying structure in Systems Engineering.
  • In live mode, the output document's URL is inserted in the email message body. Recipients can click the URL to open the document and edit the data; changes are committed to the underlying structure in Systems Engineering.

Certain Teamcenter preferences govern the internal email facility:

  • Mail_server_name
  • Mail_server_port — default value 25.
  • Mail_OSMail_activated — default value true.
  • Mail_internal_mail_activated — default value true.

These preference values can be customized for your environment.
