Create a parametric requirement

Note: You must have DBA privileges set with administrative bypass, or you must fill a role that your Teamcenter administrator has designated as having parametric requirement creation privileges.

Procedure

  1. Choose File→New→Item to open the New Item wizard.

  2. Select Parametric Requirement under Business Object Type, and then click Next to advance to Edit Additional Properties.

  3. In the Name box, enter the requirement name.

Note: This text becomes the value of the new requirement's Rev Name property.

You can also enter the following optional data:

    Field Description
ID Object identifier. You can specify the identifier explicitly, or you can click Assign to enter the next available identifier in the automated sequence. Or, leave the ID box blank.
Revision Revision number. You can specify the number explicitly, or you can click Assign to enter the next available number in the automated sequence. Or, leave the Revision box blank.
Description Plain text to convey additional information about the requirement — for example, its purpose or its relationships to functional and logical structures. This text becomes the initial value of the Rev Description property.

Caution: When selected, the Open On Create option automatically opens the new requirement for editing in Word. However, you cannot enter parameters in Word. You must enter parameters in the Body Cleartext property of the revision.

  4. To create the item, click Finish.

Tip: You can click Next instead of Finish to open an optional page for defining workflow information.

The parametric requirement item and item revision are created in the Newstuff folder of your Home view. A new Requirements view opens for the occurrence.
