Exporting data to Microsoft Office Word
For analysis or distribution, requirements can be exported to Word, thus capturing both their content and their organization within the requirement specification structure. For each requirement structure element that you specify, Teamcenter extracts the content from the database to a temporary Word document.
The Word export process uses two templates, a specification template and an object template.
A specification template controls the output document format, including page layout. This template defines the Word styles that are applied to the exported data. It also designates which object template is referenced by the export process.
An object template controls the content, property format, and the properties whose values are exported for the selected objects.
Note: To further control exported content, you can add closure rules and transfer modes to Word templates. Closure rules are not allowed in the body text of requirements.
You can specify a rule in the specification template to define which objects are exported.
You can view and print the output document and send it by e-mail and fax. Also, you can save the document, for example, on a local or shared drive, where the content can be edited independently of Teamcenter.
The saved document can be imported to create requirement specification structures automatically, complete with parent, child, and sibling requirements.
