Viewing structures in the split view You can use the split view to display the two structures or configurations side-by-side, independently modify them, compare them, and perform drag and drop operations for moving or copying occurrences. You can also filter and retain the context upon exit in the split view. You can split the structure view into two views using the Split Context command. Initially, identical structures are loaded in both panels. Both panels provide a toolbar with commands relevant for the structure being displayed. You can also open two different structures side-by-side in the split view by selecting two root nodes and then using the Open command. In the split view, you can modify the structures independently. Once either structure is updated to a different configuration, then the Compare functionality is enabled. You can also use the split view to move or copy an occurrence from one structure to another using the drag-and-drop functionality. If the two views have the same structure with the same applied configuration, then the occurrence is moved. Otherwise the occurrence is copied. If the structures are indexed with Smart Discovery, filter the structures by clicking Filter in the Split View. You can filter the entire structure and apply the filtering criteria to view the required content of the structure. When you exit the Split View, you can continue working on the structure that you worked on the last. For example, in the Split View, suppose that the Headlight Assembly is available on the left view and the Front Bumper assembly is available on the right view. Then you changed the configuration of the Front Bumper assembly before exiting the Split View. In such a situation, the Front Bumper assembly is retained and you can continue working on it. When you click Back in the Split View, you can continue working on the structure in the left view. After clicking Back in the Split View, the structure in the left view is opened with its original configuration, that is, the configuration that was applied before splitting the view. If you applied the filter in the Split View and then clicked Back , the filter criteria is retained on the structure.
