Update parts and part usages

You can update the properties in the part and part usage, with specific considerations for released revisions and design-part alignments. You can also understand the guidelines for selecting the Assembly Indicator value based on various scenarios.You can make the following updates to a part and its part usage: Select a part from a Usage BOM.

Click Edit near the Overview tab. In case of parts or usages having a released current or older revisions and no design-part alignments, you can edit following properties. If alignment exist, you can unalign first and then edit the properties.

In the Overview tab, update the part information, as needed, in the Part Properties section.While updating Assembly Indicator, all the options Configurable Assembly, Generic Part, and Supplier Part are available. Use the guidelines for selecting the Assembly Indicator value.

Update the part usage information, as needed, in the Part Usage Properties section.

Click Save . If you updated the properties of a released part usage, the usage is automatically revised.

Configurable Assembly

Its parent part is set as Configurable Assembly.

Alternates and substitutes are not created for the part.

Solution variants are not created for the part.

Generic Part

Solution variants are not created for the part.

The part does not contain any child parts.

No revision of the part is released yet.

Its parent part is set as Configurable Assembly.

Alternates and substitutes are not created for the part.

No revision of the part is released yet.

Supplier Part

The part is purchased as a complete or whole assembly.

The part can contain parts and sub-assemblies.

A supplier part is an assembly that is defined in the design structure.
