About effectivity propagation

The effectivity propagation is the method to propagate or transfer the effectivity of an active change notice to the different elements of a Usage BOM structure.When you set an engineering change notice sent to the EBOM Release Process workflow as an active change, its release effectivity is inherited as the element effectivity by the part usages that are added to or updated in a Usage BOM.For example, if the release effectivity of an active change notice is from 1st April 2022 to 30th September 2022, any part usage added, replaced, or revised in the context of this change notice inherits the release effectivity as its element effectivity.If a part usage has element effectivity inherited from some previous change, which overlaps with the release effectivity of the active change, an effectivity cutback is performed on the original part usage. The new part usage inherits the release effectivity of the active change.In case, the active change notice is not yet released, and its release effectivity is updated after it is propagated to part usages, you must verify the data first and then repropagate the effectivity.The following example explains why you must verify the data before repropagating the effectivity.Example Consider that revision A of the engine assembly is effective from 1st Jan 2022 to UP and contains piston, rubber gasket, and stud. Revision B of the engine assembly is effective from 1st March 2022 to UP and contains piston, rubber-gasket, and bolt. The original change effectivity is set for 1st March 2022, so revision B of the engine assembly is the basis for the change. At this point, the engine assembly is modified, and its revision C contains piston, silicon gasket, and bolt. Now if the effectivity is changed to 1st February 2022, revision A of the engine assembly becomes the basis for the change. Revision A of the assembly does not contain the bolt. Therefore, you must work on revision A of the engine assembly again before repropagating the effectivity.
