TeamcenterKnowledge

requirements-management

In an offline live Word document, you can edit the exported requirements and modify the structure, saving the document offline until you are ready to commit the pending changes. At that time, you reconnect the document and synchronize it with Teamcenter.

Caution:

  • Before you open an offline document to accumulate changes, ensure that no other live Word document is connected to Teamcenter. If another document is connected, the offline document you open shares that connection automatically and the current content is open for synchronization with Teamcenter.
  • Properties with dynamic or cascading lists of values (LOVs) cannot be created or modified with live Word.

Note: By default, the exported objects are checked out automatically before the document is generated. This default behavior can be changed with the REQ_checkout_objects_before_export preference, which controls the Check out objects before export option in the Export to Word dialog box.

Procedure

  1. From your local file system, open the offline live Word document. A message states that you have opened a Teamcenter document and asks if you want to connect to Teamcenter.

  2. Click No. A message states that the document is not connected to Teamcenter and will remain in offline mode.

  3. Click OK to dismiss the message and begin making changes.

  4. In the content controls, you can add, change, copy, move, or delete content using the related Word features. You can also enter or modify content outside of the content controls, for example, boilerplate text and logos or informal comments.

  5. Use Word's document storage features to save your changes.

Tip: Asterisks (*) in the Requirements pane indicate which objects have changes that are not committed to Teamcenter.

  6. When you complete your changes, close the document.

Note: If you navigated to any content control, even if you made no changes, Word displays a message asking if you want to save the changes. The message appears whether you saved changes previously. You can click Yes to open the Save As dialog box. Or, click No to dismiss the message and close the document. Your changes are saved offline pending later synchronization with Teamcenter.
