Create a BOM view type

You can create a BOM view type to categorize and differentiate Bill of Material (BOM) view revisions within Teamcenter. This helps to define the specific purpose of a BOM, such as for design or manufacturing, allowing for better organization and management of product structures.

Procedure Start the Business Modeler IDE and, in the Extensions view, select the project in which you want to create the new note type. Right-click the project and choose Organize→Set active extension file on the shortcut menu. Select the options.xml file as the file in which to save the new BOM view type. Expand the project and the Options→View Type folders. Right-click the View Type folder and choose New View Type from the shortcut menu. The New View Type wizard runs. Perform the following steps in the View Type dialog box: Note The Project box defaults to the already selected project. In the Name box, enter the name you want to assign to the new BOM view type. In the Description box, enter a description of the new BOM view type. Select the Attach Value List check box if you want to attach a list of values (LOV) to the BOM view type. If you select the Attach Value List check box, click the Browse button to the right of the LOV box to locate the list of values to attach to the BOM view. Type an asterisk * in the Find dialog box to see all possible selections. Click the Browse button to the right of the Default Value box to choose the value from the list of values that you want to use for the BOM view type. Click Finish. The new BOM view type displays under the View folder in the Extensions view. To save the changes to the data model, choose File →Save Data Model.
