About color BOM The Color BOM complements the engineering BOM by adding color attributes to the parts included in the engineering BOM. In several industries, the appearance of a product is an important buying criterion for customers. For example, in the automobile industry, customers expect new designs and colors. Therefore, the vehicle body, interiors, wheels, control switches, bumpers, and other prominently displayed parts must appear attractive. Manufacturers also use a combination of colors and textures based on styling trends. Such parts with color attributes are called as color parts. Consider an example of a car with two variants, Leto BX and Leto CX. These variants have different features, and one of the differences is the color option for the bumper. The BX variant is available only with black bumpers for all cars, irrespective of the external body color, whereas the CX variant is available with body-colored bumpers. The following image shows the red, blue, and gray color Leto BX variants, all with black bumpers. In the CX variant, the bumper color matches the color of the car's body.
