Associate a requirement template revision with Microsoft Office Word

After creating a requirement template, complete this procedure to associate the template revision with default Word content for new requirements.

Note: Before you start, ensure that the FullText subclass is available for new datasets.

Procedure

  1. In the Home view, expand the structure below the template and select the template revision.
  2. In the Summary view, click the Attachments tab, then click Add New under Files. The New Dataset dialog box opens.
  3. In the left pane, click More to open a list of dataset types.
  4. Scroll down to the options for Microsoft Office, and select MSWord or MSWordX. The Name box and the Tool Used and Relation lists are filled in automatically.
    • Tip: leave Open On Create selected to automatically open the new dataset in Word for entering default content.
  5. Click OK to create the dataset and close the dialog box. The dataset is added to the structure below the template revision; the Attachments tab shows the dataset under Files.
  6. Open the dataset in Word and enter the default content for new requirements based on the template. (Note: if Open On Create was selected, the dataset opens automatically.)
  7. Save the default content in Word, then close the dataset.

Note: To continue setting up a custom template, complete the steps in "Release a requirement template revision."
