Structure Management ─ Deployment and Administration

Install Structure Manager using Deployment Center

Installing the Structure Manager application into your existing Teamcenter environment depends on the client that the users use. If the users access Structure Manager through the rich client, no additional applications or features are required to be installed. However, if the users access Structure Manager through Active Workspace, you must install the applications that are mentioned in this topic.

Furthermore, irrespective of users using rich client or Active Workspace for accessing Structure Manager, you can install additional optional applications so that the users can effectively manage Structure Manager data.

Prerequisites

  • Teamcenter is already setup. If not, follow the instructions in Teamcenter Installation Using Deployment Center to deploy Teamcenter.
  • If Teamcenter is already set up, verify if Visualization Extension application is installed for enabling the serverless client-side rendering capability in the Teamcenter environment.
  • Deployment Center is setup. If not, plan its deployment.

Procedure

  1. Log on to Deployment Center and select the environment to which you want to add Structure Manager.

  2. Go to the Applications task. Click Add or Remove Selected Applications.

  3. In the Available Applications panel, use the web browser search to find the following applications and select them.

Select the following applications for the Active Workspace users:

    • Active Content Structure: Provides functionality and data model extensions necessary for indexing structure data.
    • Active Content: Adds structure search functionality to the client interface. Required if you select Active Content Structure when building the client web application.

If you want to enable variability by using Product Configurator, select Product Configurator Support for Structure Manager. This application installs capabilities related to solution variants.

Note: You must install all server and client-side components to ensure proper functioning. For example, the Product Configurator Support for Structure Manager component must be installed on both the Enterprise tier and the Client tier so that Product Configurator can be used to configure the variability of a product structure.

Note: If you want to manage cost data for your structures, you can also install cost rollup and management application.

  4. Go to the Components task. In the Selected Components list, note any remaining components whose configuration status is not 100%. Select each incomplete component, enter required parameters, and save component settings until all components in the environment show a configuration status of 100%.

When all components are fully configured, the Deploy task is enabled.

  5. Go to the Deploy task. Click Generate Install Scripts to generate deployment scripts you will use to update affected machines.

When script generation is complete, note any special instructions in the Deploy Instructions panel.

  6. Locate deployment scripts, copy and run each script to its target machine.

For more information about running deployment scripts, see "Run the deployment scripts" in the Deployment Center ─ Usage help. If you face any issues during the deployment, see "Troubleshooting deployment" in the Deployment Center ─ Usage help.
