Editing properties interactively in Excel

In the Export to Excel dialog box, the Live integration with Excel (Interactive) output mode extracts the property data to an Excel file with Teamcenter live Excel capability. Select this mode when you want to change Teamcenter property values directly from Excel.

Interactive mode allows you to use live Excel:

While the Teamcenter rich client is running The live Excel file is connected to the Teamcenter server and the data is synchronized with Teamcenter. Changes in live Excel are applied in real time to the corresponding Teamcenter objects.

Offline from the Teamcenter rich client Choose File -> Save As in the output file to store it outside of Teamcenter, for example, on your local desktop or on a shared drive. The offline file is unconnected to the Teamcenter server but retains its live capability. You can accumulate pending changes in the offline file by choosing File -> Save in Excel. Later, you can commit pending changes to Teamcenter by connecting the offline file to the Teamcenter server.

Tip: If you select the Check out objects before export option, you can explicitly check out the selected objects from Teamcenter before the live Excel file is generated. You reserve access to the objects until you check them in, either when you commit changes to the structure or cancel the changes. The Check out objects before export option is cleared by default. You can configure the object checkout option by setting the Show_Checkout_option preference in the Options dialog box.

Live Excel is included in Teamcenter Extensions for Microsoft Office and is available only for the four-tier Teamcenter rich client.
