Split the occurrences of a part based on quantity

Split the occurrences of a part based on quantity

Considering your business requirement, you can split the occurrences of an element based on quantity.

Suppose a Light Duty conveyor for small packages needs only four M8 Hex Bolts per Support Leg Assembly, whereas a Heavy Duty conveyor for bulk materials requires 8 M8 Hex Bolts for increased structural integrity. In this situation, you can split the M8 Hex Bolt occurrence to define different quantities, with each tied to a specific conveyor load capacity. You can split an occurrence based on quantity if the quantity of the element is at least two. You cannot split the occurrence of an element if the quantity is one.

Procedure Search for the occurrence and click Edit Structure > Split by Quantity. The Split panel appears.

In the Number of Splits box, type a number to divide the element by that many splits. Teamcenter suggests the default quantity for each split.

Modify the default quantity for the suggested splits in the Quantity box as needed.

Click Split.

Results The specified number of occurrences for the element are created with the defined quantity. If you split the occurrences of the element as a part of an active change, the changes, including the creation of new occurrernces and the modification of existing occurrences, are tracked. Note After splitting the occurrences of an element, the alignment of designs are retained. However, you must review if the alignments are valid considering your business requirement. Do not use guided or automated updates for adjusting the alignment of these elements.
