Engineering BOM Management – Usage > Configure structures
Create a configuration baseline
Create a configuration baseline You can create a configuration baseline for the entire structure. The configuration baseline helps you preserve the state of the structure at a particular checkpoint and visualize it later. You can create a configuration baseline for a structure even if it is released. Restrictions and limitations You can create different types of configuration baselines only if your Teamcenter setup has the required license. Procedure Locate the structure that you want to create a baseline for and click Open . Click New > Baseline . In the Baseline panel, perform the following tasks: Clear the Precise check box if it is already selected. Note If you are creating a configuration baseline for Collaborative Product EBOM, the Precise check box is not available. In the Configuration Baseline Type list, select a value. If you are creating the configuration baseline for performing an ad hoc design review, select Ad-hoc Design Review. If you are creating the configuration baseline for performing the design review of the entire selected assembly system, select System Design Review. If you are almost done with the system design and want to get the structure reviewed before finalizing it, select Preliminary Design Review. If you are creating the configuration baseline for evaluating whether the structure is complete, meeting all requirements, and is ready to proceed the formal release, select Critical Design Review. If the selected structure is ready and no more changes are expected to it, select Formal Release Baseline. Note Use the values in the Configuration Baseline Type list considering your product development stage. No Teamcenter action is performed on the configuration baseline. In the Name and Description boxes, enter a name and description for the configuration baseline. In the Action on Working Revisions list, select a value. If you want to capture the baseline revisions of the working revisions and apply the workflow, select Capture and Apply Status. If you want to freeze the baseline revisions of the working revisions and apply the workflow, select Freeze and Apply Status. If you want to capture the working revisions as is without applying any workflow, select Capture Configuration As Is. In the Baseline Workflow list, select a workflow to apply to the configuration baseline. If you want to create the configuration baseline in the background, select Run in Background checkbox. Click Create. Results The configuration baseline is created for the selected structure. If the structure contains substitutes and remote checked out objects, the configuration baseline is not supported for them. If the selected part structure contains an aligned design and a configuration baseline is created for it, the configuration baseline is created for its aligned design structure too. However, if the configuration baseline is created for a design structure, the configuration baseline is not created for its aligned part structure. Click the Baselines tab to view the configuration baselines that are already created for the selected structure. If your Teamcenter environment is set up with smart baseline and you close the configuration baseline, the new revisions are created for the associated items whose work in progress revisions are modified since their last baseline was created.
