Check out a requirement explicitly

Procedure

In My Teamcenter, select the full-text dataset associated with the requirement object.

Tip: To see if the dataset is checked out by another user, right-click the dataset in My Teamcenter and choose Properties. The Checked Out box displays either Y or N. If Y is displayed, the Checked Out User ID box displays the user.
Choose Tools→Check-In/Out→Check-Out.

Note: If the dataset is already checked out by another user, a message states that the dataset will be opened in read-only mode and changes are not saved.
Right-click the requirement and choose Send To→Systems Engineering.

The requirement is highlighted in the Systems Engineering structure view.
