Save an existing Usage BOM to create a new one

You can save an existing Usage BOM to create a new one if the new product BOM is very similar to the existing one.

Procedure Search for Collaborative Product EBOM and select it.

Click More Commands

New > Save As .

In the Save As panel, enter the required information and click Save.

Results

The parts of the existing Usage BOM are reused in the new one. New part usages are created for the reused parts. If a part is an assembly part, a new part usage is only created for the parent part.

The new Usage BOM is aligned to the same design data as the original one. However, the alignment between the part occurrences and design occurrences are not carried over.

The effectivity of the new part usages is derived from the active change. The effectivity of the active change is not applied to the child parts of an assembly part.

What to do next

Add a variability scope to the Usage BOM.

Generate an aligned design BOM, if not already generated. You can also manually align the Usage BOM with an existing design BOM.

Update the Usage BOM to add, remove, or replace parts. You can also reuse parts from another Usage BOM by carrying over the engineering BOM data to the new BOM.
