Manage policies

Key management policies control the manner in which keys are accessed and managed. Policies are defined for different uses of Teamcenter Key Manager by different Teamcenter components. Policies are uniquely identified by the component name in a hierarchical manner as follows: Secret key policies Teamcenter Teamcenter.CredToken Message digest (hashing) policies Teamcenter KeyManager.AdminWeb.Login The Teamcenter Key Manager server performs and restricts requests based on these policies. Separate types of policies are defined depending on the type of cryptography process. Each component may or may not use each of these types of processes, and may or may not define a component-specific policy for the process. If a component has no explicit policy defined for the process, the policy of the component’s hierarchical parent is used for the request if possible. For example, If a component attempts to use a policy named "Teamcenter.ABC", and that policy is not defined in Key Manager, the parent policy "Teamcenter" is used. If a component attempts to use a policy named "NX", that policy is not defined in Key Manager, and there is no parent policy, an error is generated. Key Manager supports symmetric encryption and hashing processes. Create and manage your site's policies on the Policies tab of the Teamcenter Key Manager Administration application. Click the Policies tab to view a list of all the defined policy instances sorted by component name. Viewing a policy's details On the Policies tab, each of the site's policies are listed. Click on a policy to view details about the policy. The list is updated after any policy change. Creating a policy Procedure With no policy selected, click Add Policy . Several settings are displayed for you to specify the details of the policy. Select either Secret Key or Message Digest depending on the type of policy you are creating. Specify the settings for the policy. Hover over the settings for descriptions and formatting requirements for values. You can cancel your policy creation at any time by clicking Close. When you have finished specifying the settings, click Add Policy to save the new policy. (Add Policy is not available until all required setting values are specified.) The new policy is added to the list of policies. Editing and deleting policies On the Policies tab, click on the policy you want to edit or delete. To edit a policy, click Edit Policy and change the settings. You can delete policies that have no active keys generated against them. You cannot delete the policies delivered with Key Manager. Click Delete Policy to delete the policy.
