Configure server monitoring with the Teamcenter management console

Administrators can use the following procedure to configure monitoring and alerts of various server events. Changes made in the Server Monitoring view are persisted in the TC_DATA\serverMonitorConfig.xml file. Procedure Start the Teamcenter management console. The default address is http://host:8083/mgmt/console. Click Server Monitoring. This view lists the master monitoring mode, the event metrics available for monitoring, and responders that can be used for notification of a critical event. Set the Master Monitoring Mode value to one of the following: Value Description Off Disables monitoring of all the metrics listed in the file. DisableAlerts Enables monitoring of all the metrics listed in the file, but disables all notifications of critical events regardless of individual notification settings on any metric. Normal Enables monitoring of all the metrics listed in the file. To configure monitoring of a server event type (or metric), under the Metrics heading, click the desired metric and set its values. Example Click Deadlocks. Set values for the metric. Deadlocks Select one of the following. Value Description Off No metric data is collected. Collect Metric data is collected and displayed in the console view. This is the default setting. Alert Metric data is collected and displayed in the console view. Notifications are initiated when critical events occur. Threshold Value Enter the event quantity at which to initiate a critical event notification. History Max Entries Enter the event quantity at which to stop logging entries. Responder Ids In the list, the active critical event alert notification responders for the metric are highlighted. To select a responder, click its name. Use Ctrl+click to select multiple responders. Click Apply. Configure the responders that can be used for alert notification of a critical event. Example To configure email notification, click EmailResponder1 and set the values. When you finish specifying values, click Apply. Value Description From_address The address from which notification emails are sent. To_address The address to which notification emails are sent. You can specify multiple email addresses separated by semicolons (;). Host_address The server host from which the email notifications are sent. In a large deployment (for example, with multiple server managers) the host address identifies the location of the critical events. Suppression_period The amount of time (in seconds) to suppress email notification of critical events. Example To configure logging of critical events, click LoggerResponder1 and set the following values. When you finish specifying values, click Apply. Value Description Log_filename The name of the file to which critical events are logged. Suppression_period The amount of time (in seconds) to suppress logging of critical events to the log file.
