Data Share Manager installation overview

Teamcenter users can use Data Share Manager to asynchronously upload and download files, managing the processes by pausing, resuming, or canceling them. Data Share Manager is supported on the rich client, and is a separate program with its own user interface. Data Share Manager can be installed on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS clients. It can be used to manage file uploads and downloads for the rich client. Data Share Manager must be installed if you require external site file virus scanning. Note If a client has a previous version of Data Share Manager installed, uninstall the earlier version before installing the new version of Data Share Manager. Follow this process to install Data Share Manager: Data Share Manager must be installed with a public key that grants access to the Teamcenter database for end users to use Data Share Manager. Provide public keys using either of the following methods: Provide separate key files to end users using the instructions in Export a public key for the data share manager. (This is the only way to distribute keys on non-Windows platforms.) Bundle the key files with the Windows-based Data Share Manager stand-alone installer to have the keys included when end users run the Windows stand-alone installer. Refer to Bundle keys with the Windows stand-alone installer for the Data Share Manager for instructions on bundling key files with the installer. Set the Use_DataShare_Manager preference to true on the server. Doing so activates Data Share Manager for file uploading and downloading. Tip If users prefer to the synchronous import and export mechanism for file upload and download instead of using Data Share Manager, they can set the Use_Datashare_Manager preference to false with a User protection scope. If the client has a previous version of Data Share Manager installed, uninstall the earlier version before installing the new version of Data Share Manager. Install Data Share Manager using the stand-alone installer for your platform.
