Insert identifiers for existing requirement objects in the unstructured document

Procedure

  1. In the unstructured document, place the cursor where you want to insert the identifier.
  2. Click the Teamcenter tab→Requirements group→Flat File Import and choose Assign ID.
  3. If the Teamcenter Login dialog box is displayed, enter your Teamcenter user name and password, and then click Login.
  4. In the Assign ID dialog box, enter the following information.
Field name Definition Valid values
Rule The rule ID used for the identifier parsing. Unavailable if there is only one rule defined in the flat file configuration files Select from list of valid rule IDs. Rule IDs are defined in the flat file configuration files.
Type Type of requirement object for the identifier. Select from list of valid requirement object types for the selected rule. Requirement object types are defined in the flat file configuration files.
Prefix The identifier prefix used to match a specific rule. Select from list of valid prefixes. Prefixes are defined in the flat file configuration files.
  1. Optionally, type the values in the properties boxes to search for a specific identifier.

  2. Click Search.

    In the Search dialog box, the requirement object type is populated in the Type box. If the properties for the identifier have values, the Search Criteria box is populated with the identifier from the Assign ID dialog box. If you do not type values for the properties in the Assign ID dialog, an asterisk (*) representing a wild card is used as the search criteria.

  3. Optionally, type a different value in the Search Criteria box for searching identifiers of the specified type.

  4. In the Search dialog box, click Search.

  5. From the results list, select the requirement object you want to add to the unstructured document.

  6. Click Insert.

    The Assign ID dialog is displayed and validates that the identifier for the inserted requirement object is valid.

  7. Click OK to insert the identifier.

    An existing identifier of the specified requirement type is inserted in the unstructured document. Depending on the configuration rules defined in the flat file configuration files, the identifier may be a complying or defining trace link.

  8. Place the cursor where you want to create additional identifiers and repeat steps 1–10.

  9. Click Close to close the dialog box.
