Compare worksets

Compare worksets You can compare two different worksets to view their differences. You cannot open the same workset for comparison. Procedure Search for and select two different worksets. Click Open . The two worksets are opened in the Split View. Click Compare. (Optional) Change the comparison level: In the Options list, select a comparison level. The following table explains the different options. Comparison option Description All Levels Compares the elements at every level in the two worksets. All Levels Below Selected Compares all levels below the selected level in the two worksets. Components Only Compares only the parts that are at the lowest level, that is, components. Current Level Compares only the parts that are immediate children of the selections in the two worksets. This is the default level of comparison. Linked Assemblies or Components Compares two worksets by using an accountability check. This comparison level is displayed only if Multi-Structure Foundation is available in your Teamcenter environment. Accountability check is a verification mechanism to check if all the parts in one structure have equivalent parts in the other structure. You can define your own properties for equivalence. Specify what you want to display in the comparison results by selecting one or more of the following options from Options > Display: Comparison option Description Matched Displays the parts that are a match in both worksets. Different Displays the parts that differ between the two worksets. Multiple Matches Displays the different numbers of occurrences of the same part in the comparison as a difference. Unique in Left View Displays the parts that are only listed in the workset displayed on the left. Unique in Right View Displays the parts that are only listed in the workset displayed on the right. For Linked Assemblies or Components, select the Dynamic Equivalence check box. In some cases, the occurrences that are slightly different in the two structures might not be reported as equivalent. The dynamic equivalence check reports such occurrences. This check box is displayed only if Multi-Structure Foundation is available in your Teamcenter environment. If required, select the Generate Report check box to generate the comparison report. Click Compare. The comparison results are listed under Results. Clicking a part in the list highlights that part in the workset. Comparison results are retained for a specific period. If a comparison result is older than the retention period, or if a more recent result exists, the old result is automatically deleted. If you selected the Generate Report check box, the comparison report is generated in Excel. If you have the permissions to edit the target engineering BOM, the report is attached to it. You can click the Attachments tab of the target engineering BOM to download the report. If you do not have permissions to edit the target engineering BOM, the report is saved in the Newstuff folder. The file name for the comparison report is in the format Compare_Report_AND_YYYYMMDD_HH_MM_SS, where Source_ID is the ID of the first engineering BOM that you want to compare and Target_ID is the ID of the engineering BOM with which you want to compare the first engineering BOM. You can also click Alerts to understand the location of the comparison report if the BOMs are compared in the background. Tip If you closed the Compare panel and want to perform further comparison, click Compare on the task bar to view the Compare panel again. Note If the content of one of the worksets is modified, compare the worksets again. When you are comparing two worksets, if the content of a workset is modified, click Replay to bring the latest content to the workset.
