Reimporting a modified unstructured document

After you have modified an unstructured document, which is now a Teamcenter dataset, you can reimport it to Teamcenter in one of two ways:

As an update

When you reimport the modified unstructured document as an update, the following occurs in Teamcenter when the import is complete:

  • New requirement objects are created for new requirement identifiers added to the dataset.
  • Existing requirement objects are removed for requirement identifiers deleted from the dataset.
  • Trace links are created for new trace link identifiers added to the dataset.
  • Trace links are removed for trace link identifiers deleted from the dataset.
  • The dataset is updated with the modified requirement information.

As a revision

When you reimport the modified unstructured document as a revision, the same results occur as when you reimport as an update, with these additional results:

  • A new revision of the dataset is created in Teamcenter and the updated flat file is added to the revised dataset.
  • Any Word or Excel macros in the previous dataset are preserved in the revision.
  • A deep copy for revise is used when creating existing requirement identifiers in the requirement specification. The existing requirement objects are revised to the next revision in Teamcenter.

If the reimport fails, the entire import transaction is rolled back and the import operation is aborted.
