requirements-management

Moving or copying requirement objects between structures is part of a three-step process:

  1. Open the requirements structures in live Word using one of the following methods:

    • Open an offline Word document that contains a requirements structure exported from Teamcenter.
    • Open a Teamcenter requirement structure from the Teamcenter ribbon in Word.
  2. From the Requirements pane in the Word document, copy or cut a requirement object — such as a nested requirement specification, requirement, or paragraph — from the structure. Then, paste the requirement object to the desired location in the destination requirement structure. The destination structure can be in another Word document or within the same Word document.

Note: You cannot perform the copy and paste operation or the cut and paste operation on the top-level requirement specification object in the requirements structure.

  3. Commit the changes to Teamcenter.

    • If you are working online and are connected to Teamcenter, the changes to the requirements structures are made to Teamcenter when you save the document.
    • If you are working offline and save the document to the disk, when you reopen the document, you have the option to synchronize and commit the requirement structure changes to Teamcenter.

When you commit the changes to Teamcenter for the destination structure in Word, the copied or moved objects from the source structure are copied by reference to the destination structure in Teamcenter.
