requirements-management
Note: The item revision of an object must be locked by being at a released state and not modifiable before you can mark it for revise. The Revise command is not available for item revision objects that are open. An item revision object is considered open if it is:
- Not at a released state.
- At a released state, but still modifiable.
- Not checked out by another user.
- Not locked by the access control list (ACL).
Procedure
- In the Requirements pane in Word, right-click the object you want to mark for revision in the requirement structure and choose Mark/UnMark for Revise and Replace. The revise symbol appears next to the selected object and any other objects impacted by the revise operation, indicating the object is marked for revision.
- Edit the requirement revision object, as needed.
- In Word, click the Save button or choose File→Save to save the changes in Teamcenter.
- In the Save dialog box, if you checked out the objects before the export, select Save and Check-in to check in the objects.
- Click OK.
When you save the document in Word, the changes are saved to Teamcenter and the following occurs:
- A new revision of the object is created with a unique ID in accordance with the deep copy rules.
- All changes made to the new revision, including any property and body text changes, are saved in Teamcenter.
- If the selected object is in a precise requirement structure:
- In Teamcenter, the existing item revision of the selected object in the structure is replaced by the new item revision.
- In Word, the new item revision for the object appears in the requirements structure.
- If the selected object is in an imprecise requirement structure:
- In Teamcenter, the new item revision is added to the item revisions for the requirement object, and appears in the requirements structure.
- In Word, the new item revision is added to the item revisions for the requirement object, and appears in the requirements structure.
- Note: Because the structure is imprecise, it points to the latest item revision for the requirement object.
- The mark for revise symbol no longer appears for the object in the Requirements pane.
If another Teamcenter user creates a new revision of the same object as you, either through another live Word session or directly in Teamcenter, you cannot save your new revision of the object. This is because, if you perform the Revise operation from Client for Office, only one working revision can exist for an object.
When you attempt to save the new revision, you receive an error message that conflicting revisions of the object have been found and the save cannot be completed. In the Modified objects warning dialog box, click the Details button to view a list of the objects with multiple working revisions in the requirement structure that you are trying to save.
