Create solution variants for a product through a workflow

You can create solution variants for a product structure using a workflow, and you use the variant rules for creating the solution variants.

Procedure

1. Open the source structure. Warning Do not change the state of the Show Excluded by Effectivity and Show Suppressed toggles. The state of these toggles must remain unchanged while creating and updating the solution variant.
2. Set the Solution Variant Category for the source product structure and its sub-assemblies. You can select Reuse, Managed, or Unmanaged.
3. Click More Commands > Manage > Submit to Workflow .
4. In the Submit to Workflow panel, select Create Solution Variants in the Template list.
5. In the Targets section, ensure that the source structure is already selected.
6. (Optional) In the Targets section, click Add to add an engineering change.
7. In the References section, click Add to add variant rules. If a variant rule contains multiple revisions, you can choose a revision for which the solution variant is to be created.
8. Click Submit.

What to do next

To verify if the solution variants are created correctly, go to the Solution Variants tab and open the required solution variants to view them.
