Using transfer modes with Excel export
A transfer mode is created in the PLM XML Export Import Administration application and is displayed as an option when users import or export objects to or from Teamcenter applications.
The objects collected from the transfer mode are added to the list of objects to be exported, and each object is then matched with the rules in the rule table to find the best matching rule (from top to bottom). If a rule matches, the properties corresponding to that rule are considered for export. If no rule matches, the object is skipped for export. The rule table in the Excel template acts as a filter to the objects being exported.
A transfer mode has a closure rule that defines a traversal algorithm to identify the additional objects required for a specific principal object. For example, a closure rule can ensure that when you export item revisions, the datasets and master forms attached to them are exported.
Example described in the source (an ItemRevTM transfer mode with a REV_RULE closure rule): when exporting item revisions, the datasets and master forms attached to them are also exported. The resulting output contains item revisions, item revision master forms, and Microsoft Word datasets in the Excel file.
