Add a new element to a model diagram
You can add a new element to a model diagram using either of the following methods.
Procedure (via Add Element)
- Open the diagram, click Architecture, and click a spot in the diagram where you want to create the element.
- Click Add Element.
- If the option to select either Child or Sibling appears, select where you want to add the element in the diagram relative to the selected element.
- Select the type of element you want to create either from the list of recently used types or from the full list of available types. You can also search for a type using the Filter box.
- Enter the properties for the new element. The required properties vary depending on the type of element being created. These properties are configured by stylesheets, which are maintained by the administrator. The required properties are denoted with a red asterisk (*).
- Click Create and Add.
Procedure (via Legend panel)
- Open the diagram and click Architecture > Start Authoring.
- Click to display the Legend panel.
- From the objects list, click the object you want to add to the diagram. Double-click for sticky mode. In sticky mode, you can add multiple elements to the diagram.
- Click a spot in the diagram to add the model element.
- After adding the model elements, click End Authoring.
Note: If the authoring mode is on, and you leave the Architecture tab or launch a new panel, the authoring mode is turned off.
