Preview migration results

Use the Preview functionality to evaluate how much data is migrated between volumes (for VM policies) or migration tiers (HSM policies) for a selected migration policy. The migration information appears in a pie chart illustrating the storage space saved by migrating the selected data (relative to the capacity of the source volume) or in a text-based report detailing the number and size of migrated files. Note Siemens Digital Industries Software recommends that you preview migration information before actually migrating the data. Procedure Open the Volume Management view. From the Policies tree, select a policy, either a volume management (VM) policy or a hierarchical storage management (HSM) policy. Click the Migration tab. The policy name and description appear at the top of the Migration pane. If you select a VM policy, the Migration Volumes section displays the source and destination volume for the select migration policy. If you select an HSM policy, this section displays the tier from which the data is being migrated and the tier to which it is being migrated. In the Function Options section, click Preview. Run the preview. At the bottom of the pane, click PieChart . A pie chart appears in the Preview Report section. At the bottom of the pane, click Evaluate . A text-based report appears in the Preview Report section. (Optional) To the right of the Preview Report section, click Save to save the preview to a file, or Print to print the preview.
