System Administration > Administering Teamcenter client communication system (TCCS)
Creating shared or private TCCS configurations
A TCCS configuration contains information about how TCCS connects to the server. A TCCS configuration can be either shared or private. If both private and shared configurations exist for a user, the private configuration takes precedence. A shared configuration is used by all system accounts. Location of the files depends on the operating system: For this operating system Shared TCCS files are located here Windows AllUsersProfile\Siemens\cfg Linux etc/Siemens/cfg A private configuration is used by a single user. On Windows systems, the files are located in UserProfile\Siemens\cfg. You can create shared or private TCCS configurations using Deployment Center or Teamcenter Environment Manager (TEM). Creating a TCCS configuration in Deployment Center This procedure describes how to create shared or private TCCS configurations using Deployment Center. Add the Teamcenter Client Communication System component in the Components tab. Select the Teamcenter Client Communication System component and navigate to its Client Communication System Configuration Settings section. Select the Client Communication System Configuration check box. If this configuration is for your use only, select Private in the Client Communication System Configuration Selections section. If you are a TCCS administrator and you want this configuration to be used by multiple users, select Shared. By default, the shared configuration is used by the system for all users connecting using TCCS. Creating a TCCS configuration in TEM This procedure describes how to create shared or private TCCS configurations using Teamcenter Environment Manager (TEM). Depending on your environment, you can also configure TCCS using other tools such as the TCCS installer, the Client for Office installer, and web tier context parameters. TCCS configuration options in these tools are similar. In TEM, navigate to the Feature Maintenance panel, and under Client Communication System, select Use Configurations and Environments. In the Client Communication System Switch panel, to authorize the system to use the configuration, select Use Configurations and Environments and click Next. To set up the configuration without enabling it in the system, leave the checkbox empty. Tip If you have trouble launching Teamcenter after creating TCCS configurations, try clearing the Use Configurations and Environments checkbox. It could be that an incorrect setting in a configuration is the source of the problem. In the Configuration Selection for Client Communication System panel, if you are a TCCS administrator and you want this configuration to be used by multiple users, select Shared. By default, the shared configuration is used by the system for all users connecting using TCCS. If this configuration is for your use only, select Private. A TCCS administrator can create both shared and private configurations. A non-TCCS administrator can only create a private configuration. If both private and shared configurations exist for a user (designated as existing in the configuration panel in TEM), the private configuration takes precedence. Click Next and continue to set up the configuration (for example, for forward proxy, environments, and so on). Click Next until you reach the Confirmation panel and then click Start. The configuration information is saved.
