Find, filter, and update structures using Teamcenter Copilot for Structures

Use Teamcenter Copilot for Structures to find, filter, and change structures and review the updated structure or visual representation in real time.

Prerequisites

Your administrator must install and configure Teamcenter Artificial Intelligence (AI) services.

Procedure

  1. Click Copilot.

  2. Select Teamcenter Structures.

  3. Use natural language to type your prompt.

Example: Locate and open the most recent hard drive BOM.

  4. Type additional requests to filter the structure, find specific parts, complete weight and balance rollups, or replace parts.

  5. Click Submit or press Enter to perform the action.

Copilot completes the action and updates the structure and visual representation based on your request.

Copilot also suggests a list of follow-up prompts for the next steps. You can either use the suggested follow-up prompts or type a different prompt.

  6. (Optional) You can Copy the Copilot response for future use.

  7. (Optional) To clear the current conversation and start a new chat, click New Chat.

Examples

  • You have learned that one of your BOM components needs a clearance of 5 cm. You need to quickly identify if there are any other pieces within 5 cm of this component. When you select the applicable component and ask Copilot to show you any content within 5 cm of the selected item, the BOM structure and visual representation are filtered according to these parameters.
  • You want to work on a chassis and any parts within 30 mm of this chassis. When you ask Copilot to show you any parts within 30mm of the chassis, the structure and visual representation are filtered according to your request. You can then ask Copilot to create and name a workset. Copilot provides a link to the workset after it is created.
  • You have learned that one of your structures exceeds the recommended weight limit. You need to find a way to reduce the weight. Therefore, you can ask Copilot to identify the heaviest item in the structure by creating a rollup report, suggest replacements, and even replace the item in the structure.
  • You know that the Aerospace Fastener Torque Standards - Rev C document, stored in Teamcenter, contains the definitive torque specifications for various materials and fastener types. Specifically, this document mandates that for Titanium Alloy (Ti-6Al-4V) fasteners used in critical shear applications, the torque value must be within the range of 150 Nm to 160 Nm.
  • Instead of manually searching through hundreds of BOM lines, you can use Copilot to efficiently identify non-compliant parts by asking it to find all the parts in your current wing assembly BOM that are made of Titanium Alloy (Ti-6Al-4V), have a specified torque value, and whose torque value falls outside the range of 150 Nm to 160 Nm, as specified in the Aerospace Fastener Torque Standards - Rev C document.
  • You can ask Copilot to save a series of your favorite actions, and then run them by prompting a keyword. For example, you could ask Copilot to remember the command Open in context, which would then perform the following sequence of actions: open the BOM structure, filter the electrical components, and finally, highlight all items that are assigned to you. The next time you prompt Open in context, Copilot automatically performs these tasks for you.
  • You have identified that certain parts require updates, which must be processed through an Engineering Change Notice (ECN). You can instruct Copilot to manage these structural updates within an engineering change. This includes asking Copilot to creating an engineering change, automatically associating affected items to a change, replacing identified parts with recommendations, creating an impact analysis workset for affected items, and finally, visualizing change markups across multiple structures.
  • You have learned that a part of an assembly is impacted as a part of the requirement R123. You can prompt Copilot and understand all the impacted items due to this requirement. Copilot analyzes the cross-structure relationships, and displays all affected items, which can include linked designs, associated parts, supplier components, and dependent assemblies.
  • You can ask Copilot to configure a structure by applying the Any Status; Working revision rule and the Physical partition scheme.
