Author a variant condition for a part usage

A variant condition defines how to use a part in a product or a structure. You author a variant condition for a part usage in the context of a Usage BOM or a Assembly BOM within it, which is marked as Configurable Assembly or Generic Part.

Procedure Search for Collaborative Product EBOM and open it.

Associate a variability scope with the Usage BOM or the Assembly BOM, if not done already.

Select the part for which you want to author the variant condition.

In the Variant Conditions tab, click Edit .

For each Variability Content, click a cell to set the variant condition:

Click one time to display a green check mark to include the variability content in the variant condition.

Click two times to display a circle backslash to exclude the variability content from the variant condition.

Click three times to display a blank cell to indicate that the variability content is not used in the variant condition.

Multiple variant conditions are connected using a logical AND operation.

Click Validate All to validate if the variant condition is correctly authored as per the Product Configurator rules.

Click Save Edits . Results The variant condition of a part usage is displayed in the Variant Formula column. The variant condition of a part usage can be different from the variant condition of its aligned design occurrence.
