Briefcase support for variant items not included in the MBOM

When you align individual parts, assemblies, and manufacturing features from the engineering bill of materials (EBOM) into a manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM), variant items are sometimes not included. When you add a variant rule and use a briefcase to export the collaboration context (CC), the external items are included without children in briefcase files with a bcz extension.

Procedure Right-click the top line of the MBOM and then click Rules . In the Variant Rule dialog box, select an appropriate option with rules available, such as a Steering option with Left Hand Drive and Right Hand Drive rules. In the Item column, note or copy the selected item value and click OK. Example Item values usually add a pretext to the MBOM name, such as the beginning letter, numbers, and dash at the start of item ID O_00023-PLANT PRODUCT. Results When you export the CC through briefcase export and your variant rules point to a variant item outside of the CC, briefcase retrieves that item without any hierarchy.
