Designing functional and logical architectures > Diagramming architectures in Microsoft Office Visio > How diagram edits affect Teamcenter structures
Copy a block shape and create an underlying Teamcenter object
Note
Microsoft Visio Professional must be installed on your computer. Visio Standard is not supported.
You cannot copy shapes from one diagram to another.
Right-click the source shape and choose Create new object and paste.
The copied shape, which represents the new object, is added to the diagram.
The new object is created in your My Teamcenter NewStuff folder. It inherits the type and properties of the object that underlies the source shape.
The source shape's association with the diagram owner determines the result in the Function or Logical Block view.
- If the source shape represents a member of the structure, an occurrence of the new object is added to the structure. Any structure owned by the underlying object is cloned to the occurrence.
- If the source shape does not represent a structure member, the structure is not affected.
The underlying object and its General Relation Management (GRM) relations are copied to create the new object in My Teamcenter. Deep-copy rules are used to determine whether datasets and other attachments are copied to the new object.
