Keeping users informed about discussion updates with email notifications

You can configure Active Collaboration to notify users by email when updates have been made to discussions that they are associated with. Use the following procedures to configure Active Collaboration email notifications. Prerequisites Teamcenter mail must be configured for users to receive email notifications when discussions are updated. For example, your organization's mail server may require the following preferences to be set: Mail_server_name Mail_server_port Optionally, set Mail_OS_from_address. You may also set additional email preferences for your site configuration requirements. Notifying users about discussion activities with email notifications Email notifications can help users keep track of discussion activities. To enable discussions-related email notifications for users, set the Ac0EnableEmailDiscussionNotifications preference to true. When users select Notify me by email for discussion activity on the profile page, they receive email notifications when updates are made to discussions they follow and to discussions on objects they follow. The default value is false. To have Notify me by email for discussion activity selected for all users by default, set the Ac0EnableUserEmailDiscussionNotifications preference to true. Reducing discussion email notifications Reducing discussion-related email notifications minimizes distractions and reduces clutter. To help reduce discussions-related email notifications for users, set the Ac0ThrottleUserEmailDiscussionNotifications preference to true. When users select Reduce the number of notifications for the same discussion on a user's profile page, they receive an initial email for a change to a discussion, but do not receive additional email notifications for that discussion for the time specified by Ac0EmailDiscussionNotificationsInterval. The time interval resets once the user views the related object or discussion. Specifying time intervals for reducing discussions-related email notifications You can specify the number of hours to mute email notifications for users who have elected to reduce the number of discussions-related email notifications they receive. To specify the time interval in which users do not receive email notifications, set the Ac0EmailDiscussionNotificationsInterval preference to the number of hours that email notifications will be muted. The default value is 8.
