Set the default revision rule for a product structure

You can define a default revision rule for a structure based on the structure's item type. When users open the structure, it always opens with the default revision rule.

Procedure

1. From Launcher, click Preferences.

   If this option is unavailable, search for it. You can pin it from the search results for future access.

2. Set the AWBUseDefaultRevisionRule preference to True. By default, this preference is empty.

3. Open the TC_config_rule_name_type preference, and then enter the item type and revision rule values in the following format: <item_type>:<revision_rule>.

   Example: Suppose that you want the Precise Working revision rule to be the default revision rule for structures that are of the Design type. In this case, enter Design: Precise Working. By default, this preference is empty.

   When determining a revision rule for a structure, Teamcenter first searches for an exact match. It looks for the item type specified in the TC_config_rule_name_type preference. If an exact match is not found, Teamcenter then travels up the item type hierarchy to find a matching revision rule.

   Example: Suppose that the revision rule is defined for the Item type but not for the Document type. Additionally, Document is a child of Item, and the user opens a structure that is of the Document type. In such a case, Teamcenter travels up the item type hierarchy and displays the structure with the default revision rule specified for Item.

   If no type-specific revision rule is found within the TC_config_rule_name_type preference, Teamcenter displays the structure with the revision rule specified in the TC_config_rule_name preference. If no revision rules are specified in the TC_config_rule_name_type and TC_config_rule_name preferences, Teamcenter displays the structure with the Latest Working revision rule.

Note: The PSEShowUnconfigdEffPref preference controls whether structure lines with effectivity are displayed by default in a new Structure Manager window when those lines do not match the current revision rule or incremental changes. If a structure line is shown even though its effectivity evaluates to false for the current revision rule or incremental changes, you can use the following properties to identify the lines that do not configure for the current variant rule:
