Configure Cloud Data Storage Service (DSS)

In addition to standard network storage of volumes, File Management System supports S3 cloud volumes through the Cloud Data Storage Service (DSS). DSS lets you create volumes that are stored on Amazon S3 cloud-based servers. Configuration and use of S3 cloud storage is currently supported with Siemens Managed Services accounts only. Siemens Managed Services has partnered with industry leaders to deliver world-class cloud solutions. These partners include Smartronix Inc. for system monitoring and administration of the delivery of Amazon web services (AWS) for cloud infrastructure. The partnering of Smartronix and AWS with the Siemens Professional Services and Cloud Services teams allows for the delivery of complete turnkey cloud deployments tailored to customer business needs. These partners form a broad solution team with Siemens Managed Services acting as your single point of contact for cloud-related solutions. Configuring Cloud Data Storage Service during FMS installation Chose to enable DSS when installing FMS with Deployment Center by selecting the FSC component and checking Enable Cloud Data Storage Service (DSS). Supply the following details: Setting Description Keystore Password A password you specify to protect the keystore file containing the Cloud Data Storage Service credentials. Account ID The ID of the Cloud Data Storage Service account that is to store Teamcenter volumes. User ID The user ID for the Cloud Data Storage Service account that stores Teamcenter volumes. Access Key ID The ID of the key used to access Teamcenter volumes stored in the Cloud Data Storage Service account. Secret Access Key The secret string of the key used to access Teamcenter volumes stored in Cloud Data Storage Service account. Optimizing FMS startup memory When enabling cloud volumes, Siemens Digital Industries Software recommends you increase the FMS and FCC startup memory values from their default values of 256MB to at least 1GB. To increase the values, edit the values of FSC_MEM, TCCS_MEM, and TCCS_MEM_MAX in the file for your platform as follows: startfsc.bat (Windows) Copy set FSC_MEM=1024M Copy set TCCS_MEM=1024M Copy set FSC_MEM_MAX=1024M startfsc.sh (Linux) Copy setenv FSC_MEM=1024M Copy setenv TCCS_MEM=1024M Copy setenv TCCS_MEM_MAX=1024M Creating cloud volumes A cloud volume named DefaultCloudVolume is created when Cloud Data Storage Service is installed. If you want to use this cloud volume, use the Organization application to grant member access to the volume and to otherwise manage the volume. You can also create new cloud volumes as described in Create a volume.
