Install and configure Apache Directory Studio for use with embedded LDAP

Use Apache Directory Studio to administer users and passwords for the Teamcenter management console embedded lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP). Procedure In the Teamcenter installation source, browse to the additional_applications\ApacheDirectoryStudio directory. Windows systems Run the ApacheDirectoryStudio-platform-version.exe file. Linux systems Extract the ApacheDirectoryStudio-platform-version.tar.gz file and run the resulting installable file. Follow the prompts to install Apache Directory Studio. Apache Directory Studio stores its information in the following directories: Windows systems user-home-directory.ApacheDirectoryStudio.metadata\ Linux systems $HOME/.ApacheDirectoryStudio/.metadata/ Run Apache Directory Studio. Windows systems Run the installed-location\Apache Directory Studio\Apache Directory Studio.exe file. Linux systems Run the installed-location/ApacheDirectoryStudio-platform-version/ApacheDirectoryStudio file. In the Apache Directory Studio user interface, open the Connections tab and click the New Connection button. In the Network Parameter dialog box, create a connection to the embedded LDAP. In the Connection Name box, type a name to identify this connection. In the Hostname box, type the name of the host where the embedded LDAP is installed. This is the same host where the Teamcenter management console is installed. In the Port box, type 15389. This is the default port for the embedded LDAP. In the Encryption method box, select the required encryption of the target LDAP. The default for embedded LDAP is No encryption. (Do not select Use StartTLS extension because StartTLS is not supported in the embedded LDAP.) In the Provider box, select Apace Directory LDAP Client API. Click Check Network Parameter to ensure that the connection works. Click Next. In the Authentication dialog box, configure security for the connection. In the Authentication Method box, select Simple Authentication. In the Bind DN or user box, select uid=admin,ou=system. Clear the Save password check box. If it is not selected, a password prompt appears every time you open the connection. Tip It is good policy to force logon with a password each time a connection is accessed. This prevents unauthorized access to the system. Click Finish. You are prompted to enter the default password. Enter the default password secret and click OK. The connection appears in the Connections view of Apache Directory Studio. The Open Connection button is gray, indicating the connection is open. Tip If you want to change the values of the connection, right-click the connection and choose Properties. After you create the connection, you must change the password so that the default password is no longer used. Choose the following path in the LDAP Browser view: ou=system→ uid=admin Double-click the userPassword attribute. Type a new password in the Enter New Password box. Click the arrow in the Select Hash Method box to select an encryption method. Siemens Digital Industries Software recommends at a minimum that you use the SHA-256 method. When done, click OK. After creating an LDAP connection, you can use the LDAP Browser view to set password policies for the embedded LDAP.
