requirements-management
You create and release a precise requirement structure named Prog1 for an existing product program that contains a set of requirements. The program has now evolved, and you want to revise and modify the set of requirements for the Req11 requirement.
Because the object item revision and the BOMview revision (BVR) of its parent node are released and not modifiable, when you perform a Revise operation on the Req11 object, it creates a new revision for all of the parent nodes until an open BVR is found in the structure.
The source figure shows the results after revising to the top of the Prog1 requirement structure in Word from the Req11 requirement. New revisions, in this case revision B, are created for the Prog1 requirement specification, Req1 requirement, and the Req11 requirement. You can now make changes to the new revision B of the requirement objects.
Note: All objects below the object marked for Revise are copied by reference to the revised structure and remain at revision A.
