Exporting product data (overview)

Exporting product data

By exporting requirement specifications and design architectures, you can capture your product data for analysis and distribution to downstream disciplines. From the structure views in Requirements Manager and Systems Engineering, you can export property values for requirements, functions, and logical blocks, including their traceability relationships and levels of subordination.

You can select an entire structure or only certain portions, and then export that data to the following applications or formats:

Microsoft Office Word and Excel

An export template defines which property values are exported and how that data is formatted in the output file. Teamcenter provides Word and Excel export templates by default. Your Teamcenter administrator can modify the default templates and create custom templates for specific purposes at your site. You select a template each time you export data.

Tip: You can export data to a Word or Excel file that is synchronized with Teamcenter in real time. Directly in this file, you can modify a structure or its elements interactively.

Teamcenter internal email

You can send object data from Systems Engineering to other Teamcenter users, and to SMTP addresses for recipients who are not Teamcenter users. The export process attaches the Word or Excel output file to an email message. The data consists of property values specified in an export template that you select.

PLM XML format

Your selected transfer mode determines what data is exported. You can also track your PLM XML exports using Application Interface mode.

Teamcenter application interface

Application interface objects store parameters required to share data in PLM XML format, allowing you to repeatedly share data with other sites without defining the parameters each time you export the data.

Teamcenter format and STEP format

When you export to these formats, you also export all internal data associated with the selected objects. For example, exported items can have relations such as item masters, item revisions, requirements, specifications, and reference objects.

Remote sites through Global Services

Note: You can export product structure data also from Structure Manager, from Multi-Structure Manager, and from the My Teamcenter Details view and navigation pane.
