Import the WBS structure from Microsoft Excel
You can define the WBS hierarchy in Microsoft Excel and then import the file into Teamcenter. IPP&E includes a sample Excel file that provides the required format for the spreadsheet.
Note: The last row of the file must end with
<endtag>. (The source page shows an example table here that was not extractable as text — it is an image/formatted table.)
The import process parses all the columns in the Excel file that can be mapped to Teamcenter properties, in numerical order.
Procedure
Create an Excel file containing the WBS hierarchy, based on the sample file and the example above.
To use a WBS number separator rather than a period (
.), update theWBS_DefaultSeparatorForWBSNumberpreference. By default, the preference value is 1, which results in a period separator. From your Home page, click the Import Specification tile.
The system displays the Import Specification panel.
Click Choose File and then browse to and select the Excel file containing the WBS hierarchy.
Select a saved property mapping or choose the properties to map.
For example, your Excel spreadsheet may contain columns you can map to Teamcenter properties, either by choosing a Saved Mapping from the list or by mapping each property individually.
Click Import.
The system imports the WBS hierarchy and displays it in Teamcenter.
