Developing requirements > Unstructured (flat file) import
Assign identifiers for new requirement objects in the unstructured document
Procedure
- In the unstructured document, place the cursor where you want to insert the identifier. For example, place the cursor before the text that you want to be identified as a requirement.
- Click the Teamcenter tab→Requirements group→Flat File Import and choose Assign ID.
- If the Teamcenter Login dialog box is displayed, enter your Teamcenter user name and password, and then click Login.
- In the Assign ID dialog box, enter the following information.
| Field name | Definition | Valid values |
|---|---|---|
| Rule | The rule ID used for the identifier parsing. The field is unavailable if there is only one rule defined in the flat file configuration files. | Select from list of valid rule IDs. Rule IDs are defined in the flat file configuration files. |
| Type | Type of requirement object for the identifier. | Select from list of valid requirement object types for the selected rule. Requirement object types are defined in the flat file configuration files. |
| Prefix | The identifier prefix used to match a specific rule. | Select from list of valid prefixes. Prefixes are defined in the flat file configuration files. |
Type the values in the properties boxes to create a valid identifier for the selected rule, type, and prefix. Identifiers are validated if they match the regular expression defined in the flat file configuration files. If you do not type a value for a property, the identifier is created without the property.
By default, the properties boxes for Requirement revision and Paragraph revision object types are: ID, Revision, Sequence Id, Name.
By default, the properties boxes for Requirement and Paragraph object types and subtypes are: ID, Name.
Once the values are validated, a green check mark displays next to the identifier tag at the bottom of the dialog box.
Click OK to create the identifier.
An identifier of the specified requirement type is created in the unstructured document. Depending on the configuration rules defined in the flat file configuration files, the identifier may be a complying or defining trace link.
Place the cursor where you want to create additional identifiers and repeat steps 1–5.
Click Close to close the dialog box.
