Note: Trace link features are available only if:

  • The Word document is connected to Teamcenter.
  • The Tracelink Mode check box is selected in the Teamcenter Options dialog box. (Choose Edit→Options in Teamcenter to display the Options dialog box.)

Procedure

  1. In the Requirements pane, do one of the following:

    • For a single defining object, right-click the object and choose Start Trace Link. (The trace link for a single defining object can target one or more complying objects.)
    • For multiple defining objects, hold down Ctrl or Shift while selecting the objects, and then right-click the selection and choose Start Trace Link. (The trace link for multiple defining objects can target only one complying object.)
  2. In the Requirements pane, right-click the complying object or multiple object selection, and then do one of the following:

    • To accept the default trace link subtype and name, choose End Trace Link.
    • To assign a custom trace link subtype and name:
      1. Choose End Trace Link Subtype to display the Create Trace Link Subtype dialog box. All trace link subtypes are displayed.
      2. In the list on the left, select the subtype to assign to each trace link.
      3. In the Name box, type the name to assign to each trace link.
      4. You can type optional additional information in the Description box.

A trace link symbol appears for each defining and complying object.
