Migrate VM policy data using basic migration

Use the Migration functionality to migrate volume management (VM) migration policy data from a source volume to a destination volume using basic migration. This method requires third-party migration tools. Note Before using this migration method, you must export the pending file sets to the operating system directory upon which your third-party migration tool is running. The migration tool reads the exported file and performs the actual migration. The following steps ensure the migration information is committed to the database. The pending file sets can be exported in either XML or text format. Procedure Open the Volume Management view. From the Policies tree, select a VM policy. Click the Migration tab. The policy name and description appear at the top of the Migration pane. Verify that the selected policy is a VM migration policy. The Migration Volumes section displays the source and destination volume for the select migration policy. In the Function Options section, click Migration. At the bottom of the pane, click Mark For Migration. Any files defined by the selected migration policy that meet the migration criteria are added to a pending migration request and displayed in the Pending Migration Requests section. Manage the pending migration requests in the list using any of the buttons to the right of the Pending Migration Requests section. Select the pending file request to be migrated and click the Export button to the right of the Pending Migration Requests section. The pending file sets are exported in either XML or text format to the operating system directory upon which your third-party migration tool is running. The migration tool reads the exported file and performs the actual migration. Caution Ensure this step actually takes place before proceeding. Select the pending file request to be migrated and click the Migrate button to the right of the Pending Migration Requests section. The Migration dialog box appears. Select Use 3rd Party Tool for Migration and click OK. Click Yes when the following message appears to confirm you have exported the pending file set to the operating system for third-party tool migration: Copy Has the selected pending file set been exported for third party tool migration? A progress indicator appears as Teamcenter commits the file migration information to the database. After the migration completes, a Migration successful message appears. Click OK.
