Designing functional and logical architectures > Diagramming architectures in Microsoft Office Visio > How diagram edits affect Teamcenter structures

Delete a diagram shape and the underlying Teamcenter object

Warning

For an interface (port) shape, the underlying interface revision stores a Graphical Design Element (GDE), a form object for Mechatronics Process Management. This procedure deletes both the interface revision and the GDE from Teamcenter.

You cannot delete the interface revision if the GDE has occurrences in two or more structures. A GDE occurrence participating in a ConnectedTo relation is removed from the relation, and the occurrence is deleted.

Caution

Before you delete a connection shape, click the Save button on the toolbar in the Visio Diagram view. Otherwise, an error message is displayed.

Procedure

  1. Right-click the shape and choose Delete in Teamcenter. A confirmation message is displayed.
  2. Click Delete. The Delete Function Structure dialog box is displayed.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • To delete the object and its members at all lower levels, select the Delete sub-structure? check box. The object and its members are deleted from the Function or Logical Block view.
    • To delete only the object and retain its members, clear the Delete sub-structure? check box. The object is deleted and its members remain in the Function or Logical Block view.

Tip: To revoke Teamcenter deletion but remove the shape, click Remove. The object remains in the Function or Logical Block view.
