Overview of configuration failover

FMS configuration is controlled through a primary configuration file (fmsmaster_fscid.xml) that is hosted by an FSC referred to as the primary or configuration FSC. You can also configure more than one primary or configuration FSC so that the additional FSCs act as failover servers. Configuration failover allows the client or the FMS network to fail over from one FSC configuration server to another, based on the priority value of the FSC set in the fmsmaster configuration file. Similar to other failovers in FMS configuration, the priority attribute determines the failover configuration with 0 being highest priority, followed by 1, 2 and so on. Fail over priority is configured in the assignedfsc element in the clientmap element. For example: Copy Note that in this context, the configuration FSC does not need not be the same as the bootstrap FSC specified using Fms_Bootstrap_Urls preference or similar mechanisms. If the bootstrap URL is indeed the same as the primary configuration FSC URL, to then achieve failover, you must also specify all of the relevant Primary FSC URLs in the bootstrap. If the bootstrap URL is not the Primary FSC URL (for example, if it is a reverse proxy URL), the failover will then work with the assignedfsc priority settings described here.
