Set in-context overrides

You can set in-context overrides to modify or override certain properties and attributes of elements within a specific structure context without affecting the original item. This helps you add context-specific information, like position and orientation, different mounting positions of an element. Procedure Search for and open the structure.

Select the grandparent assembly, two-levels above the component, to be defined as the override context.

Select Edit Structure

In-Context .

The Override Context in the header is updated to reflect the selected assembly. Only the selected assembly remains active. The rest of the structure is made unavailable.

Click Edit .

Change the properties you want to edit in the context of the selected assembly.

You can override the Is Element Suppressed?, Absolute Transform, trace link, and JT Override properties for a usage part in the Usage BOM. When you click Create Trace Link , you can create a trace link for occurrence to occurrence, occurrence to revision, and revision to occurrence. Right-click a usage part and click Existing Trace Link to view the existing trace links for the selected usage part.

Save your changes by clicking Save Edits . Alternatively, to cancel your edits, click Cancel Edits .

The override icon appears against the selected component in the Overrides column of the table. On mouse hover, it shows information about overridden properties with the context.

The override icons are also shown along with the individual overridden properties. Tip To close the Set In-Context view, select the same line where you set the in-context override, click Configuration , and select Set In-Context.
