Assign color appearance to a less finish part or an assembly
Assign color appearance to a less finish part or an assembly A color appearance captures all the visual appearance aspects, such as color, gloss, and texture information. You can assign the color appearance to leaf-level Less Finish parts or the assembly node in accordance with the color theme. Note The color appearance at the assembly level is used only for ID generation. It does not visually represent the assembly's actual color. When you assign a color appearance to an assembly, the system extracts the color code from the assigned color appearance. Prerequisites A color theme must exist. If the automatic generation of appearance areas is enabled, the appearance areas are created automatically. Otherwise, they must be manually created before proceeding with the mapping. Video The following video shows how to assign color appearances to a less finish part or an assembly in Teamcenter. Procedure Open an Assembly BOM or a Usage BOM with a variability scope attached, and go to the Content tab. Click Manage Color BOM . Under the Color Theme for an assembly node or each part occurrence, double-click Color Appearance and select a color appearance that you want to assign. You can select the color appearances from the options available depending on the color scoping configuration: Theme-level scoping only: You can select any color scoped in the color theme. Both theme-level and part-level scoping: You can select only colors that are common to both the color theme and the part's color specifications. For example, if a color theme includes colors Blue, Black, and Green, but a specific part is scoped with colors Black, Green, and Red, only colors Black and Green will be available for selection for that part. No scoping: You can select from all the available colors. Note Part-level color scoping is configured by administrators using a command-line utility and restricts the available colors for specific parts based on supplier or sourcing constraints.
