Using incremental change with revision configuration

The following example illustrates how incremental change and revision configuration work together in a baseline. In this scenario, the upper levels of the structure are configured by the revision and the lower levels are configured by incremental change. It is also possible to configure the upper or middle levels of the structure with incremental change to control structure changes, and configure the lower level components by revision; the lower levels may contain CAD design files. In the example: The upper structure (including items A100, A200 & A300) uses standard revision configuration. The revision rule selects the revision of an assembly that is loaded according to release status or effectivity. This in turn determines the components that are configured. The lower structure (including items A400 and A500) uses incremental change configuration to determine the loaded components.
